The wreck itself is located directly in front of the Relax Bali resort
On September 17, 2012, we sank the specially modified and cleaned shipwreck of the vessel Bogha, which we had purchased. This wreck was sunk directly opposite the RELAX BALI resort.
The wreck lies approximately 100 meters from the shore at a depth of 18 to 34 meters. The retired 43-meter-long Indonesian Coast Guard vessel was purchased and cleaned over four months at the Benoa port in Bali. It was then towed to northeast Bali and sunk by naval specialists of the Republic of Indonesia and professional divers from the RELAX BALI resort.
The entire event was witnessed by guests of the RELAX BALI resort, including the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs, Mr. Sharif C. Sutardjo, and the head of the Karangasem region, I Wayan Gredeg, along with his delegation. The spacious and safe wreck has since become a refuge for many marine creatures and poses an exciting challenge even for experienced divers.
The wreck is home to schools of snapper and barracuda; you’ll also encounter moray eels, sweetlips, scorpionfish, groupers, and even sharks visit the site. The wreck hosts at least 12 species of coral. Cleaning stations for open ocean creatures are present, and there are also nurseries for juvenile fish. A beautiful wreck for diving.
By diving at the wreck, you contribute to the conservation of nature around Kubu.
The RELAX BALI resort participates in the Kubu Marine Park project, focused on protecting the underwater wealth of coral gardens along a 15 km stretch within the Kubu village area. Other resorts, the village of Kubu, and the Republic of Indonesia also collaborate on the Kubu Marine Park project.
The shared goal is to protect the underwater life in the area from excessive strain and to preserve it for future generations. The artificial underwater reef formed by the wreck has become a benefit for the rich marine life. The project also includes monitoring the gradual colonization of the wreck by marine organisms. This scientific task is led by professional diving instructor and biologist RNDr. Michaela Soukalová from our RELAX BALI resort.
