Java’s Active Volcanoes: Ijen and Bromo

Two-Day Trip to Kawah Ijen Volcano

On the first day, we depart early in the morning from the resort, traveling along Bali’s northwest coast where we can stop to visit pearl farms in Pemuteran. From Gilimanuk harbor, we take a ferry to Java and then proceed to our accommodation in Banyuwangi.

On the second day, at 5:00 AM, we begin our journey to the foot of the volcano. Accompanied by a local guide, we will hike for about an hour to the crater of the active Ijen volcano. Here, we will explore the turquoise crater lake and observe local sulfur miners at work.

On the way back to Ketapang harbor, we will visit coffee and rubber plantations.

Three-Day Trip to the Bromo and Ijen Volcanoes

Upon arrival in Java and check-in at the hotel, we depart at 3:30 AM by jeep to cross the desert and catch the breathtaking sunrise view. Afterwards, we will visit a Hindu temple followed by a hike to the crater of Mount Bromo. Expect stunning natural scenery, daring sulfur miners, and unforgettable views into the volcanic caldera.

The next day, we travel to Banyuwangi near Kawah Ijen. Our ascent begins just after midnight to witness the unique "blue flame" emitted by oxidized sulfur at night. The itinerary continues with additional activities before returning to the resort in the evening.
