Visit to the Temple, Royal Water Garden, and Afternoon Siesta on the Beach
One of Bali’s directional and protective temples is the majestic white Pura Lempuyang, guarding the island from the east.
Here you’ll find one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the entire island, including the famous “Gateway to Heaven” located at the second temple. During festivals, you can witness processions of Balinese people dressed in traditional attire, ascending the long stairway to the hilltop. The stairs wind through dense tropical rainforest adorned with tree ferns and palms. Along the way, you may encounter monkeys and various bird species. The hike to the summit takes approximately two hours. The view of Mount Gunung Agung, coupled with the minimal crowds, makes the visit truly worthwhile.
The royal water palace Tirta Gangga, known as the “Holy Spring,” was built for the King of Karangasem and is about a half-hour bus ride away. The journey passes picturesque rice terraces. Within the palace complex, featuring ponds, waterfalls, and pools, you’ll find a pleasant restaurant. Swimming is allowed in the pools, which were once reserved solely for the king. The atmosphere here is peaceful and welcoming. Feeding the abundant koi carp is a memorable experience.
We’ll conclude this delightful garden walk with a short transfer to Virgin Beach near Amlapura. The bay is lined with dozens of local warungs — eateries where you can sample regional specialties and relax on the pristine white sand beach.
